COLUMBUS, OH (Mar. 4, 2020) – The Ohio State Bar Foundation (OSBF) has honored Matthew Wagner with its District 1 Community Service Award for Attorneys 40 and Under.

As an employment counselor at Frost Brown Todd in Cincinnati, Wagner has spent considerable time counseling clients with respect to legal questions unique to transgender employees and those with personnel issues unique to the healthcare field.

Wagner was one of the first volunteers to take on a legal project with Pro Bono Partnership of Ohio (PBPO), an organization dedicated to providing legal services to nonprofits.

“We are pleased to honor Mr. Wagner with our Community Service Award for Attorneys 40 and under,” said OSBF Executive Director Lori Keating. “Through volunteering with Pro Bono Partnership of Ohio, Matt is one of many attorneys who provide free business legal advice to nonprofits in the Cincinnati area, empowering these nonprofits to better serve the underserved and disadvantaged. This is just one of the ways Matt gives back to make his community a better place.”

Wagner has volunteered for 24 legal projects for PBPO nonprofit clients over the past four years and has been the driving force behind PBPO’s Employment Helpline with Frost Brown Todd. Through the helpline, nonprofit clients can have basic employment questions answered by attorney volunteers. Additionally, Wagner is one of the founding leaders of Grow PBPO, an advisory council to the organization.

Wagner also has performed with the Cincinnati Young Professionals Choral Collective pop choir group and sits on the board of the Denny Buehler Memorial Foundation, which raises money for financially distressed families facing catastrophic medical bills.

OSBF’s District Community Service Award for Attorneys 40 and Under is given to an attorney in each of the Ohio State Bar Association’s 18 districts. Recipients are chosen by OSBF’s Awards Committee based on volunteer service and involvement with the community.

Award nominations for OSBF’s 2020-2021 District Community Service Award for Attorneys 40 and Under are being accepted now through June 1, 2020.
